Look through a telescope and see a distant world. Create a chemical reaction and witness matter transform before your eyes. Build a circuit, power it up, and watch something you made come to life.
That's what TRAC is all about.
TRAC Operations Ltd is the organisation behind a growing series of science clubs for school-age students, bringing astronomy, chemistry and electronics together under one professionally managed group.
Our aim is simple: to give young people opportunities to explore science beyond the classroom through engaging, practical experiences. Each of our clubs focuses on a different area of science, giving students the chance to investigate subjects that interest them, develop practical skills and deepen their understanding through hands-on activities.
We believe that science is at its most inspiring when students have the opportunity to experience it for themselves; seeing the rings of Saturn with their own eyes, carrying out exhilarating chemistry experiments, or learning electronics by building and testing real circuits.
This commitment not only enriches students' understanding of scientific concepts but also fosters a passion for inquiry and discovery. By providing hands-on experiences, TRAC aims to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators.
Astronomy Club
For the past few years, the TRAC astronomy group has been busy exploring the galaxy one star and planet at a time. With the aid of our powerful telescope, club members are able to observe hundreds of mesmerising celestial objects in the solar system and beyond.
Our astronomy club hosts public outreach events centred around major astronomical events, such as eclipses and international observing nights.
TRAC's astrophotography workshop offers anyone with a smartphone the opportunity to capture stunning photos of the night sky and the Moon's cratered surface in impressive detail.

Firepower Chemistry Club
Our chemistry experiments are designed to offer a visual demonstration of the important chemical properties of matter while exploring how these principles were discovered and developed into the materials which power the modern world.
We have a particular enthusiasm for fire, energetic reactions, big flames and the occasional explosion. After all, many of chemistry's most important principles are also among its most dramatic and violent!
Our campfire evenings are popular with our club members, and we're known for our flaming pumpkins on Halloween, which have become a tradition.
Firepower Chemistry Club is only suitable for those with a keen interest in chemistry. Members must have a good understanding of the chemicals and equipment they're using and follow safety procedures without fail.
They must be prepared to work hard, think for themselves, step outside their comfort zone, and live dangerously a little bit. We teach our members to understand and manage risk, and to develop the knowledge, judgement and confidence to perform potentially dangerous experiments responsibly.

Electronics Club
In our daily lives, we're surrounded by sophisticated electronic devices, yet few of us understand the fundamental principles of electricity and magnetism which underpin their operation.
By taking the time to learn about these principles, our aim is not only to enhance our technical literacy but also to gain a greater appreciation of the ingenuity and skill which went into the invention and development of the technology we use every day.
Our electronics projects provide hands-on experience in building and working with electronic circuits. Through practical activities, members develop their understanding of electronic components while gaining valuable technical and problem-solving skills.
Our capstone project is to build a radio transmitter and receiver.
